Black Lake 2019-01 - Leslie Snider
This scene is based on sketches
from a recent trip to the lake.
(see more sketches earlier in June)

The sun, trying to escape the clouds,
created a powerful highlight on the lake.

Spring Scenes

A trio of studies
in pastel
recording the emerging changes
of colour and light this spring.

Bonnechere Early Morning

I usually post new pictures on Instagram.
This gives me a quick check as to whether
I think it makes an interesting online visual.
Often pics look great in real life
but fail to come alive online.
This is one of those examples.
It elicited very little response.

Bonnechere Point 2019
Alas, it is one of my favourite pastels.....
trying to capture the quality of mist
 rising from the river
was a tricky one.

It is also one of my favourite
camping locations
so that might influence my feelings!

Craving Colour

Sharbot Lake PP - Leslie Snider

As cold and snow grips North America,
forget working outdoors!

Instead I'm trolling
 my photo archives
for warm and sunny ideas.

The above scene,  from last summer,
is a sunlit point on Black Lake
 in Sharbot Lake Provincial Park.

The calm serenity MIGHT be a bit idealised!

Monet's Field - Leslie Snider

This pastel began as a study
 of early morning mist
rising from my summer field....
but soon I found myself fascinated
by the colour and rhythms
of the clover in the field.
