Capturing a Mood

October seems to have disappeared rather quickly
with rapid changes in the weather
from warm and balmy to cool and crisp.
The fall colours were late....my favourite maple
peaking a few days after Thanksgiving
rather than on the holiday
as I've come to expect.

Autumn Pastel 2016 Leslie Snider

In this first pastel,
I'm trying to capture
the illusive early days of fall
where the light is soft
and colours are just beginning to  change.

 In this second pastel
the light is bright and sharp,
the leaf colours at their most intense.

Last of Winter

The Old Willow - Lemoine Point - Leslie Snider

Last year winter
 refused to leave us.
I took the following photo
at Lemoine Point, Kingston.
It was early morning,
fog enveloped the trees and snow covered ground
as the morning sun warmed the air.

The pastel
at the beginning of this post
is an old willow wreathed in snow and fog.
It was based on photos from that same day.

Winter Trees

Hanging On  - Pastel - Leslie Snider

A winter walk in Lemoine Point, Kingston looks like this,

The leaves of a young maple stubbornly refusing to drop.
The moody scene inspired my pastel.
