More October Colour

Ready for a change of pace, colour scheme, subject matter
I was settling down in the studio with my summer lake sketches,
all cool blues and misty aquas....
then I looked out the window and saw this!

Sumac October 2018
The morning light dancing across the garden
proved too good to resist.

Pastel  - Sumac -  Leslie Snider
You never know when inspiration will appear
...so try to be ready!

Late Summer Day - Leslie Snider
The first, a calm and lush summer day with just a hint of autumn.
The second, a late summer storm is on the way.

Both pastels on 440 Uart paper
using Sennelier, Richeson, Unison, Rembrandt pastels.
Any questions...I'm here.

Cloud Variations

Last summer
 I posted this example of
summer clouds bustling
across a summer sky.
I was interested in the patterns,
sizes, sense of distance
and the effect of sky on water.

Clouds 2016 - Leslie Snider

I've revisited the subject
but this time
I'm thinking more about atmosphere
and the nuances of  colour.

After the Storm 2017- Leslie Snider
As a summer storm was breaking up
the threatening sky
was giving way to a sun as yet unseen.

The rays of light, still holding moisture
refract the light
and struggle to peek through.

Gaspe Retrospective

On a trip to Canada's east coast
I took a series of photos
while the quickly changing light
altered the environment.
Leslie Snider  - Gaspe Sunset 2014

The tide was receding
revealing the rocky shoreline
 and contrasting
with the sun's rays
 on blue gray water.

Leslie Snider  - Gaspe Sunset - 2016
As the sun melted away to my right
and warm colour skittered across the rocks
  I turned to my left
 and caught the city lights
of a community across the bay.
